Person 1 (Liz): Welcome to our 4th grade open house. My name is Mrs. Aardema and the other teachers I work with are Miss. Deater and Miss. Hay. Together our 4th grade classrooms will be working collaboratively to work on a large inquiry based project about recycling.
Person 2 (Kari): During the semester your students will be contacting pen pals in Arizona to compare and contrast recycling and landfills near their schools. We will also discuss items that can and cannot be recycled and we will take a fieldtrip to a recycling center. Talking to our pen pals and researching information students will be using many forms of technology like movie maker, email, podcast, Microsoft excel and much more.
Person 3 (Angela): Parental involvement will be strongly encouraged and welcomed in the classroom as some students may struggle throughout this process. It is important to receive support from teachers, peers as well as family members throughout the semester. We are very excited to be working with your children and seeing their development in project based learning.
